Privacy Policy

CloudEx Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the "Desk Clock Pro" app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Our Core Principle

Desk Clock Pro turns a charging Android phone or tablet into a large desk clock and bedside night clock. It also shows the time in cities around the world, converts times between time zones, and — with Premium — works as a digital photo frame. The clock, night mode, world clock, time converter, widgets, and photo frame all run entirely on your device. Your photos, your cities, and your settings are yours: they are stored on your device, and we never view, collect, upload, or transmit them to our servers. There is no account and no sign-up. Specifically, we do not have access to any of the following:

  • The photos you choose for the photo frame, or the folders you select
  • The cities you add to the world clock and the names you give them
  • Your next alarm time, your battery level, or the readings of the light sensor
  • Your clock, night mode, and photo frame settings

The app does not request your location. The time zone it uses is the one set on your device.

2. Photos and the Photo Frame

  • Photos you choose: When you pick photos with the system photo picker, the app resizes them to fit the screen and copies them into its own storage on your device so that the photo frame can show them. Your original photos are not changed, and removing a photo in the app deletes only that copy.
  • Folders you choose: When you select a folder, Android gives the app permission to read that folder only. The app reads the photos in it (and in its sub-folders) to show them, and never changes, moves, or deletes anything in it.
  • No access to your whole library: Photos are chosen through the system photo picker and the system folder picker, so the app does not request permission to read all your photos and videos.
  • The date a photo was taken: The app reads the date stored in a photo to show it, to sort photos by date, and for "On this day". It does not read or use the location stored in a photo.
  • Photos never leave your device: The app does not upload your photos or send them anywhere, and we never receive them.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information Collected Automatically

  • Anonymous crash reports: Via Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes, we collect the stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version. This does not include personally identifiable information, your photos, your cities, or your settings.
  • Purchase information: We use purchase tokens issued by Google Play to verify your one-time "Premium" purchase. We never receive any payment information such as credit card numbers.
  • List of our other apps: To show our other apps, the app downloads their names, descriptions, and icons from our content server (static files hosted on Cloudflare Pages). The request contains no personal data from the app. As with any request to a web server, the server receives your device's IP address as part of the connection. Tapping an app in the list opens its page on Google Play.

The app does not include an analytics SDK or an advertising SDK, and it does not collect your device's advertising ID.

3.2 Information Stored Only on Your Device

  • Photos for the photo frame: The copies of the photos you chose, and the permission to read the folders you selected, as described in Section 2.
  • World clock: The cities you add, their order, and the names you give them. City names and time zones come from the data built into Android.
  • App settings: The clock face, colors and size, what the clock shows, night mode, "show when charging starts", the hourly chime, photo frame settings, and similar settings.
  • Shown but not stored: Your battery level and charging state, your next alarm time, and the readings of the light sensor are used only to show them on the clock or to switch night mode. They are not saved and not sent anywhere.
  • Android backup: If backup is turned on in your device settings, Android may include the app's settings and your list of cities in the backup it saves to your own Google account. The photos copied into the app are excluded from cloud backups; they may be copied to a new device when you transfer your data directly. This is handled by Android; we have no access to it.
  • When you uninstall: Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes the copied photos, your cities, and your settings. The original photos in your gallery and in the folders you selected are not affected.

3.3 Information We Explicitly Do Not Collect

  • Your photos, or the names and contents of your folders
  • Your location (the app does not request location permission)
  • Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts (the app has no account or sign-up)
  • Your device's advertising ID
  • A history of the websites you visit or the contents of your communications
  • The contents of your screen or of other apps

3.4 Permissions the App Requests and Their Purposes

Desk Clock Pro uses the following permissions only for the stated purposes:

  • Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — Requested only when you turn on "Show the clock when charging starts". Android requires it for an app to bring its own screen to the front from the background. The app does not draw anything over other apps and does not read any screen content. If you do not allow it, a notification appears when charging starts, and tapping it opens the clock.
  • Foreground service (special use) — Runs only while "Show the clock when charging starts" is on, to wait for charging to start. A low-priority standby notification is shown while it runs.
  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS, Android 13+) — Shows the standby notification and, when the clock could not be opened automatically, the "tap to show the clock" notification.
  • Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — Restores the standby for "Show the clock when charging starts" after your device restarts or the app is updated. It does not open the clock by itself.
  • Alarm (SET_ALARM) — Used only to open the alarm list of your device's clock app when you tap the alarm button on the clock screen. The app does not create, change, or delete alarms.
  • Internet and network state (INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) — Used only for anonymous crash reports, Google Play purchase verification, in-app reviews and in-app updates, downloading the list of our other apps, and showing this privacy policy in the app. The clock, the world clock, and the photo frame do not require an internet connection.

The light sensor and battery information do not require a permission. The app does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, or storage permissions.
